Women’s Imaging: Breast Biopsy
If your mammogram or other breast imaging test reveals a suspicious finding, your doctor may recommend a breast biopsy. A breast biopsy is a procedure used to remove a small tissue sample of the breast for further evaluation by a laboratory. The need for a biopsy does not mean that you have breast cancer. Only about 20% of the breast biopsies performed in the United States result in a confirmed case of breast cancer.
